Elderberry Award
In 2010 we honored Foothills United Way with the Aging Services Foundation Elderberry Award. The Board chose Foothills United Way because of the overall impressively quick response in their establishment of the Four Mile Canyon Victims Assistance Fund.
By establishing this fund, they were able to work seamlessly with many partners in order to provide financial assistance to those who were directly affected by the fire. Case managers working with the folks who came in were able to give “gift” cards to the people who came into the Victims Assistance Center that could be used to purchase food, gas, and other immediate needs.
This kind of response is a stellar example of creating an environment in which we all age well.
